Title:            Licensed Practical Nurse, Community Health
Salary:        $60,315 - $66,381 per year (pay range explained below)             
Contract:    Temporary, Full time - July 22, 2024 - July 20, 2025
Hours:        Standard Hours (37.5 Hours per week)
Location:    Yunesetin/Toosey, Interior BC 
Bargaining Unit: PIPSC BCFNHA Group (Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada)  

*The FNHA is engaged in active collective agreement negotiations and rates of pay will be adjusted to reflect 2024 rates in the near future.

About the role
The Licensed Practical Nurse is part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team that provides team based, trauma-informed care by creating a culturally safe environment in order to promote, maintain and/or restore client health, at all stages of life, with stable or predictable states of health.
This position provides care and service that meets the standards for Licensed Practical Nurses within the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM); and works within the scope of practice for Licensed Practical Nurses as determined by relevant legislation.

About you

Education and Experience
•    Diploma from a recognized Practical Nursing education program and two years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
•    Current registration in good standing with the BC College of Nursing Professionals. 
•    Basic Life Support Certification Level C
•    Experience in delivering community/public/home health nursing programs   
•    Experience delivering health or social services in a First Nations setting
Knowledge
•    Strong knowledge of cultural safety, humility and trauma informed approaches to care;
•    Knowledge of, and ability to apply, an understanding of First Nations cultural principles and protocols in work situations;
•    Knowledge and the application of concepts, principles, and theories of trans-cultural nursing, including knowledge of traditional,  homeopathic or other healing practices used in the community
•    Knowledge of First Nations cultures and backgrounds, and the understanding of how culture impacts on communication patterns, and attitudes and approaches to health issues;
