Title:            Licensed Practical Nurse, Primary Care 
Salary:        $60,315 - $66,381 per year (pay range explained below)

Hours:         Standard Hours (37.5 Hours per week)

Bargaining Unit: PIPSC BCFNHA Group (Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada)  

*The FNHA is engaged in active collective agreement negotiations and rates of pay will be adjusted to reflect 2024 rates in the near future.

FNPCI
The First Nations-led Primary Care Initiative (FNPCI) aims to improve access to primary health-care services for First Nations people across BC in a way that is culturally safe and closer to home. The FNPCI is part of the Province’s primary care strategy, which is integrating team-based care in communities throughout B.C. and changing the way primary care is delivered with the creation of primary care networks in partnership with the Regional Health Authorities. The All Nations Healing House in Williams Lake is a new primary care centre opening to improve access to culturally safe care for First Nations people and their families.
Multiple health professionals will work together to provide team-based care based on local First Nations traditional ways of knowing, being and wellness.


About the role
The Licensed Practical Nurse is part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team that provides team based, trauma-informed care by creating a culturally safe environment in order to promote, maintain and/or restore client health, at all stages of life, with stable or predictable states of health.
This position provides care and service that meets the standards for Licensed Practical Nurses within the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM); and works within the scope of practice for Licensed Practical Nurses as determined by relevant legislation.


About you
Education

  • Completion of a recognized diploma in Practical Nursing;
  • Completion of an advanced nursing foot care training program is an asset.

Occupational Certification

  • Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM);
  • Current CPR Certification.

Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years of recent experience;
  • Experience delivering health services in a First Nations setting.

Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of cultural safety, humility and trauma informed approaches to care;
  • Knowledge of, and ability to apply, an understanding of First Nations cultural principles and protocols in work situations;
  • Knowledge and the application of concepts, principles, and theories of trans-cultural nursing, including knowledge of traditional,  homeopathic or other healing practices used in the community
  • Knowledge of First Nations cultures and backgrounds, and the understanding of how culture impacts on communication patterns, and attitudes and approaches to health issues;
