About the role
As Nursing Practice Consultant, you will – Provide education, advice and consultation on clinical practice services that includes orientation, training, in-service, clinical support and clinical competency assessment to First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) nurses who provide health services to First Nations communities in British Columbia.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have/be:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a recognized university or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.  Three (3) years of experience in community and/or public health nursing providing clinical practice support and education to nurses.
  • Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).  
  • Remote Certified Practice with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).  
  • Current CPR course for Health Care Providers (HCP).

You may have experience in; 

  • Knowledge of, and ability to apply, an understanding of First Nations cultural principles and protocols in work situations.
  • Knowledge of concepts, principles and theories of trans-cultural nursing, including traditional, homeopathic or other healing practices used in the community.
  • Knowledge of advanced clinical nursing practice, including current clinical treatment practices, principles, techniques, disease symptoms, and accident indicators.
  • Knowledge of community and/or public health models and concepts.
  • Knowledge of the nursing process, conceptual frameworks of nursing, and the theories and principles of nursing practice.
  • Ability to assess nursing practice in primary care, in a community and/or public health setting.
  • Ability to identify learning needs, create learning tools, and design short courses.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Problem solving techniques/skills.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
